Cristina Evans
...
was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. She spent most of her childhood and early adult life in South Florida. She has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1995. Ms. Evans graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with honors in 1994. She worked in the field of theatrical lighting before attending law school. In 2003, she received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Boyd School of Law, wherein she graduated fifth in her class. She graduated Cum Laude and was presented with the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Service. She served on the Student Bar Association as Night Class Representative for two semesters and Vice President of the night class for one semester.

While attending law school at night, Ms. Evans worked for Craig Mueller and Associates as a law clerk. After graduating from law school, she became an associate attorney at Craig Mueller and Associates, practicing primarily personal injury, medical malpractice and civil litigation. In addition, she further assisted Mr. Mueller with his criminal and DUI cases.

In 2006, Ms. Evans became the associate attorney for Robert A. Massi and Associates. While at Robert A. Massi and Associates, she practiced personal injury and real estate law, primarily defending real estate agents and brokers in Nevada. In 2008, Ms. Evans became one of the founding members of Evans & Rivera-Rogers, Ltd. dba ER Law.

Ms. Evans has significant courtroom experience. Further, she has arbitrated and mediated numerous cases to resolution. Her practice focuses primarily on personal injury, real estate, civil litigation, and family law cases.

Ms. Evans is a member of the Clark County Bar Association, the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, and the Nevada Justice Association.


Mariteresa Rivera-Rogers
…was born in Concepcion, Chile where she graduated from high school from the Colegio del Sagrado Corazón and later attended the Universidad de Concepción as an engineering major for a year before moving to the United States.  In 1971 she became a naturalized citizen of the United States. 

Less than two years after her arrival in Las Vegas, in 1967, Mariteresa obtained a Real Estate Broker-Salesman license, which she held until 1996 when she gave it up to continue her interrupted college education.  As a Broker-Salesman, and later a Broker, she managed commercial property at the same time holding other positions and participating in other endeavors.  Further, Mariteresa followed in field of accounting and became a bookkeeper and tax preparer at Ray Diehl & Associates, Inc., later becoming president of the corporation.  Her supervisor, the accountant in the office, was a Bankruptcy Trustee and Mariteresa became familiar with the legal aspects of that profession.  Soon after, she became involved in a program being developed by the Courts, to instruct bilingual individuals in the processes of the legal system and interpreter skills.  She was one of 15 selected from a pool of over 200 to complete the course and to start working as a freelance Spanish court interpreter for the Eighth Judicial District Court in the County of Clark for the next six years. 

In 1981 she was hired as the Coordinator for the Interpreter’s Program in the Eighth Judicial District Court, in the County of Clark, Las Vegas, Nevada.  Mariteresa was instrumental in the growth and development of the Court Interpreter’s Office where she remained for 22 years.  As an administrator she evaluated, modified and implemented programs goals, policies, procedures and standards for the office as well as contributing to the development of legislations and guidelines for the State Certification Program.  During her tenure she became a Certified Court Interpreter for the State of New Jersey, a Federally Certified Court Interpreter for the Administrative Office of the United States Court and Certified in the State of Nevada where she had championed certification for many years.

While working full time she attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada to obtain an undergraduate Interdisciplinary Degree in Latin American Studies with a dual degree in Spanish.  She then attended William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ night program.  While in law school she was research assistant to one of her professors, she was awarded a CALI award for Child Welfare Clinic and honored with the Dean’s award at graduation.  Mariteresa obtained a Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude in 2003.  That same year she was admitted to practice in the State Bar or Nevada and the Federal Bar. 

Mariteresa was hired by the Clark County Public Defender’s Office in December of 2003.  Having spent many years in the criminal arena as a court interpreter and translator working with prosecutors, private counsel and public defenders her new position was well suited for her.  Mariteresa has extensive courtroom experience having handled 1960 matters involving criminal charges in various categories of felonies, gross misdemeanors and misdemeanors as a public defender, including seven felony trials and over forty misdemeanor trials.  Those cases include charges of felonies such as Attempt Murder, Robbery, Assault,  Burglary, Weapon charges, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Embezzlement, Possession of Stolen Property, Drug charges, and misdemeanors including DUI and Domestic Violence, etc., etc., She has taken countless other cases to favorable resolution for her clients.  In 2008 Mariteresa left the Public Defender’s office to become a founding member of Evans & Rivera-Rogers, LTD, dba ER Law where she currently practices.

In addition to her Criminal Defense background, Mariteresa’s experience comes from clinical work at school in the areas of Child Welfare and Immigration and her practice of Family Law in the pro-bono area and private practice along with other civil litigation in the private setting.

Mariteresa previously was appointed to the Nevada Supreme Court Task Force on Racial and Economic Bias (1994-1998).
